A PAIR OF BIDRI SILVER-INLAID SURAHIS (WATER VESSELS)
Bidar, Central India, 18th - 19th century
Each of globular, pyriform shape, resting on a gently splayed circular foot with silver-inlaid petal motif, rising to a narrow, tall, and cylindrical neck, with reinforced mouth, the decoration similar on the pair consisting of large vertical bands in the centre filled with leafy vegetal motifs, reminiscent of chinar leaves, within rectangular fretwork bands, further foliage and vegetal motifs decorating the shoulders and neck, each 26cm high.
