A GOLD-DAMASCENED STEEL LIDDED VASE
Qajar Iran, late 19th century
Of typical bulbous shape, resting on a ringed stem on a splayed circular foot, rising to a flared tall neck with a circular rim, surmounted by a dome-like lid with a later-attached amber bead finial, the exterior engraved with cusped cartouches filled with foliage and stylised flowers, the contours of each cartouche heightened in gold, 41cm high.
