AN EGYPTIAN STEATITE HORUS CIPPUS Late Period, Circa 664 - 332 B.C. With a central figure of seated Horus, his feet resting on a crocodile, wearing the sidelock of youth, he is surmounted by a head of Bes, in turn surmounted by a squatting baboon, the underside of the base with lines of pseudo-text, the reverse with lines of repeated symbols of animals and deities, a scarab in the top register, 5.9cm high. Provenance: Private collection of a lady, Rome acquired Eternal Egypt, 1995.
