AN ANTIQUE QASHQAI RUG, SOUTH-WEST PERSIA

The rust-red field field various polychrome angular floral and hooked motifs around central blue lozenge medallion with large hooked palmette centrepiece. Linkled blue spandrels with floral motfs, lattice columns and single bold palmette. In camel-brown border of rosettes and angular floral vine between floral, barber-pole and plain stripes, approx: 267cm. x 147cm. Very good type with classic design and good colour combination. This large rug has slight even wear to the pile. Selvages original and partly rebound with touches of wool loss on cord in places. Ends with short fringes, slightly fraying. In general this rug is in good usable condition. Despite the imperfections this rug is still attractive and is a very good furnishing piece.
