A George III sterling silver eight bottle cruet, London 1819 by William Barret II
Of rectangular form with cavetto edge and gadrooned border cornered with shells and foliate scrolls, raised on scallop shell acanthus bracket feet. The galleried section with a central gadrooned acanthus scroll carrying handle leading to a quad-furcated section with laurel leaves connecting the rings corned with anthemion supports. Eight rings with four small stopper rings, fitted with diamond and spiral cut clear glass condiments, comprising a pair of oil and vinegar bottles, two oil or sauce bottle, and with silver mounts and lids; a mustard pot, herb caster, a pepper pot and a cayenne pepper pot with gilt scoop attached to lid. Fully marked to cavetto edge, part-marked to galleried frame as well as mounts and lids to condiment bottle.
