A RETICULATED AND PIERCED SILVER GLASS BOTTLE
Isfahan, Iran, Pahlavi period, first half 20th century
Of compressed dome-like shape, resting on a circular gently concave base, rising to a tall tubular neck ending in a domed finial secured with a pair of chainlets on each side, the glass body contained inside a pierced decorative network of silver vegetal tendrils, floral bands, split palmette trellis, birds, and cusped cartouches engraved with storks and other birds, the composition following the standards of Persian silver of the Qajar and Pahlavi periods, stamped '84' and with maker's mark Babajan to the base, 23.8cm high, total weight 1210g (including glass).
