TWO INDIAN SILVER BELTS
PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE GERMAN COLLECTION
Mumbai and Pune, Maharashtra, Central India, 19th century

Comprising a double braided-wire silver belt (kamarpatti or kandora) with a solid silver clasp with rosettes and geometric motifs, 30cm diam.; and a similar though simpler silver chain belt (pon) with half-round wire links, the parcel-gilt clasp with two rosette medallions on the sides, 26cm diam, total weight 375cm.

Provenance: Purchased in India in the 1970s by the current owner's mother.
