Opaque pigments and gold on paper pasted on later cardboard, the vertical composition depicting a minor female goddess of the Hindu Pantheon, Sri Bala Devi, also known as Bala Tripura the first goddess in the Tripura Traya and the main goddess of all in the Sri Yantra, seated on a lotus throne, holding a rosary bead bracelet in one hand and an ankus (elephant goad) in another, an inscription in blue ink Devanagari script at the top reading Sri Bala Ji, the portrait set within an oval frame with cobalt blue rules and vegetal motifs in the corners, 36cm x 25cm.
