This Electroquartz model was developed between 1962-1967 by the CEH (Centre Electronique Horologerie) and it represents a joint effort of nearly two dozens leading watch companies including Rolex, Patek Philippe, IWC, and Longines. Launched in 1969, our lot was to become the World’s first Swiss Quartz watch, reaching the pinnacle of technology at that time.

Due to its frequency at 8192Hz, the movement was divided by a chain of binary circuits and decreased to 256Hz. Once this was achieved, the frequency was sufficiently low to power a resonant micromotor to drive the ratchet wheel and the hands. Holding the watch close to you ear, thanks to this powerful frequency and generated friction, one could feel the watch vibrate.

Estimated at £4,000 - £5,000
