A George III sterling silver salt, London 1773 by Samuel Meriton II (reg. 8th May 1775)
Of oval pedestal form, with corded rims. Pierced decoration to the body and foot of ellipses, and oval cartouche to one side engraved with a crest of a stag’s head erased. Fitted with a ‘blown-in’ blue glass liner. Fully marked underneath, also engraved with an R to the foot rim edge.
Length – 8 cm / 3.2 inches
