Of rectangular shape, polychrome-painted, heightened in gold and lacquered, the front and back decorated with traditional Qajar interior scenes with courtly couples, similar despite minor variations, the front with a pink-clad young official wearing a tall black kaj kolah hat in conversation with his female counterpart, both seated on Western high chairs, the back with a Qajar maiden playing a setar, seated next to a well-dressed youth, possibly a prince, the table in front of them filled with small drinking cups and a glass decanter with red wine, the interior of the cover portraying a young falconer next to a tall prunus blossom tree, set against a bright red ground, 26cm x 16.8cm.
