A MOULDED SINO-ISLAMIC STYLE POTTERY VASE WITH BRASS MOUNT
Possibly Europe or China for the Middle Eastern market, late 19th century

Of baluster-like shape, with sloping shoulders rising to a straight cylindrical neck, the body moulded with a central band of trefoil arches alternately filled with stylised tulip and lotus flowers and a gridwork of single leaves with serrated edges, on the base and neck horizontal friezes of floral and vegetal sprays interspersed between roundels with Arabic inscriptions repeating the name of God and the Prophet, underglaze painted in pink, green, turquoise, cobalt blue and purple, with yellow used on the raised outline, the vase with Western gilt brass mounts around the rim and to the base, 25.2cm high.
