A Victorian sterling silver coffee pot, Birmingham 1841 by G R Collis & Co

Of shaped circular form with a curved spout opposite a C scroll handle with ivory insulators pinned to scroll sockets. The hinged disc lid surmounted by a detachable cast finial of a Chinaman seated upon a tea chest. The body and lid all over decorated with engraved foliate scrolls and flower heads, a vacant cartouche to each side. The underside of spout with chinoiserie engraving of a three-story pagoda between palm trees. An engraved presentation inscription underneath reading “January 1842 presented to William Hodgson, Esquire, by Thomas Denton, Sarah Denton and Mary Anne Denton, as a token of their esteem and gratitude for their careful management of the property bequeathed to them by their late father Pym Denton esquire deceased.”. Fully marked to the side, the handle, lid and finial unmarked.

Pym Denton died 22nd Aug 1820, of Whittington House, Derbyshire.
