A FRAGMENTED POTTERY TILE WITH HATAYI MOTIF
Possibly Iznik style in Kutahya, Ottoman Turkey, 18th - 19th century

Each fragment joining in the centre to form a square tile, painted in raised bole red, cobalt blue, green and yellow with black outlines, all on white ground, decorated with a red split palmette crossing the centre extending from the outlines of a drop-shaped floral medallion, surrounded by stylised hatai flowers on scrolling stems, together 24.3cm x 24.2cm, the largest fragment 24.2cm x 14.1cm.
