India, mid to late 20th century

Of typical rounded shape, the tabletop inlaid in ivory, bone and dark wood tesserae, featuring a chessboard in the centre surrounded by stylised flower vases with vegetal sprays, concentric bands of diamond-shaped geometric designs, resting on three wooden feet carved in the shape of ornate elephant heads with inlaid vegetal decoration on their foreheads and ears, 48cm high and 46cm diam.
