A Victorian Scottish sterling silver teapot, Edinburgh 1855 by James McKay
Of compressed globular form, upon a circular foot, the shaped curved spout with cartouche capping opposite a cartouche capped C scroll handle fitted with turned ivory insulators pinned to bifurcated scroll junctions. The upper section with a strap and scroll rim leading to a hinged disc lid with a detachable spherical finial. The body with engraved decoration of foliate scrolls reserved with striations or latticework, each side with a cartouche, one engraved with initials AC in flourished cursive script. Fully marked underneath and part-marked underneath, the finial components unmarked.
