TWO FRAGMENTARY IZNIK POTTERY TILES
Iznik, Ottoman Turkey, 17th - 18th century

Comprising a fragmentary pottery tile of triangular shape, underglaze painted in cobalt blue, turquoise, green, bole red and black against white ground, decorated with large rosette and tulip stems in the centre, set between turquoise, black and white curtain borders, the reverse with spring-held wire clips for hanging, 20.2cm x 20cm at widest points; and a border pottery tile of typical rectangular shape, underglaze painted in cobalt blue and turquoise with scrolling rosette stems, wrapped with clear plastic wire, 25.5cm x 12.2cm.
