A George VI sterling silver ‘Arts and Crafts’ covered bowl or conserve pot, London 1944 by Frances Charlotte Harling (d. 1969)

Of rounded circular form upon a short cylindrical foot, the turned over rim with an applied twisted wire band. Planished decoration to the body. The removable domed lid surmounted by a cast knop finial with acanthus leaves, with a reed and ribbon rim, cut with a spoon aperture. Fully marked to the side, the lid unmarked.

Weight – 160 grams / 5.14 ozt

Frances Harling née Wilkins was the younger sister of Amy Sandheim, noted for her handmade spoons. A 1936 example of which was sold in these rooms, 30 Oct 2020, lot 385 (£175 inc. premium)
