SEVEN IZNIK POTTERY BORDER TILES WITH LOTUS SCROLLS
PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE LONDON COLLECTION
Iznik, Ottoman Turkey, 17th century
Comprising six tiles of long rectangular shape and a smaller fragmentary tile, each underglaze painted in turquoise, cobalt blue, bole red and black on white ground, decorated with scrolling lotus stems intertwined with saz leaves, set against a cobalt blue ground between white rules and turquoise borders, the shortest 17.2cm x 11.9cm, the longest 29cm x 12cm.
Provenance: Previously part of a Private Collection based in London and formed between the 1970s and 1980s.
