A mid-20th century Iraqi silver, filigree and niello compact, Basra or Omara circa 1950 signed Mansour
Of compressed circular form the hinged lid of filigree work centred with a boss engraved with initials TD in gothic script cypher. The underside nielloed with a camel and rider holding a gun, the interior with a hinged lid with a nielloed circle engraved with a scene of Abu Hanifa al in Nu'man, Baghdad and a mudif, the surround with engraved foliate scrolls. Mirror inside, signed to the reverse. Together with a pepper pot, signed Omara, Nahy, ovoid form nielloed with a scene of the Tomb of Ezra and dhow sailing boats. (2)
