This atmospheric panel shows the influence of Jacob Van Ruisdael (Haarlem 1628/9-1682 Amsterdam) and his compositions with a large skies and billowing clouds. The late evening light falling diagonally across the landscape and serving as a repoussoir, with the distant sunlit fields evoking the feeling of a late summer’s day.
