A large Victorian sterling silver beaker, London 1872 by William Wrangham Williams

Of cylindrical form with an everted lip and a moulded base. Engraved to the side with a coat of arms surmounted by a helmet with foliate mantling and a crest of a lion’s head erased, with a motto below Virtutis Praemium Honor. Gilt interior. Fully marked bear rim. Stamped underneath Lambert 12 Coventry Street London.

Height – 11.8 cm / 4.6 inches

Weight – 274 grams / 8.81 ozt

The arms are for Dickinson

George Lambert & Co is known to have supplied many ‘reproductions’ examples of silver from the William III – Queen Anne era in Britannia standard from the 1880’s.
