A rare early 20th century Iraqi silver ashtray, Baghdad circa 1930 by Shuwa’ Jangana & Bros
Of circular form, the pull-off lid with three indented cigarette rests. Marked underneath with makers mark.

Shuwa’ Jangana & Bros were the principle Jewish silversmithing firm in Baghdad in the 1920’s and 30’s. A pair of ashtrays of this form and marked the same are illustrated in History of Iraqi Silver (2017) by Mohammed Al Baghdadi.
