Four autograph letters by prominent 19th century British Prime Ministers, comprising: George Canning ("I thought that I had much due restitution of all the books and papers which you were so good as to lend to me...I understand there is an apprehension of the Bishop of Winchester voting wrong", two pages, margins reinforced, 8vo, Gloucester Lodge, 28 June 1812); Lord Palmerston (letter to C. Rumbold reading "I have not fail to take a note of the interest you have...and I shall bear it in mind when I come to consider the relative qualifications of the several candidates", two pages, 8vo, 21 July 1833); Lord Salisbury (thanking Lady Brownhow for sending him "the kind address", four pages, 8vo, Hatfield House, 21 July 1890) and Lord Rosebery (on mourning stationary, "Dear Mr Champreys you must have thought me dead...but the truth is that for ten days I have been departed from my chequebook", one page, 8vo, 4 January 1891) (4)
