Iznik, Ottoman Turkey, late 16th century
Of square shape, underglaze painted in cobalt blue, bole red, turquoise and green, with black outlines on white ground, decorated with a floral trellis featuring tulips, a serrated saz leaf, a wild hyacinth stem, carnation flowerheads, Chinese cloudbands on the opposite edges and lobed medallions with hatayi flowers, palmettes accented in red on two corners, 25cm x 25cm.
Provenance: Previously part of a Private Collection based in London and formed between the 1970s and 1980s.
