Four autograph letters from prominent British Prime Ministers of the 19th century, comprising: George Canning (letter mentioning some enquiries and a voyage to Europe, three pages, 8vo, Gloucester Lodge, 9 August 1811); Lord Palmerston ("I presume that this letter which I have received today is upon public business, and I therefore I send it to you but as it is directed to me I should be glad to see tha translation of it", one page, marginal browning, 8vo, Carlton Terrace, 23 Sepetmebr 1842): Lord Salisbury ("Gen. Strachey's later telegram appears to tell a more hopeful story", one page, 8vo, n.d.) and Lord Rosebery ("On my arrival here from the continent yesterday I found that you had had the kindness to send me your book", one page, 8vo, 19 September 1889).
