An original hand-written book titled "The Log of the Good Ship Eighty-One, Being a record of the doings, commonplace and romantics, of the 81st North London (3rd Muswell Hill) Troops of Boy Scouts", compiled by different contributors, featuring detailed accounts on camps and excursions from summer 1914 to summer 1918, photographs of the scouts engaged in various activities pasted onto pages, also including a typed letter signed by Olave Baden Powell to Scoutmaster R. Fouracre, thanking the recipient "for the present you have sent for the soldiers using the new Scouts' Huts at Etaples. It is most good and kind of you, and I know the soldiers will be very grateful", one page, 4to, The Boy Scout Association, 116 Victoria Street, 24 February 1916, with other letters, cuttings and ephemera affixed to pages, browning and soiling throughout, losses to last five pages, green cloth, rear board crudely repaired, large 4to, 1914-1918.
