TWO IZNIK POTTERY TILES WITH CARNATIONS, TULIPS AND LOTUS FLOWERS
PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE LONDON COLLECTION
Iznik, Ottoman Turkey, late 16th - 17th century
Comprising two tiles, each of square shape, underglaze painted in cobalt blue, turquoise, green, bole red and black, all on white ground, featuring two central stems of lotus flowers crossing from the bottom left corner to the top right, in the middle a bunch of carnation stems, glimpses of a red tulip flower, hyacinth stems and a Chinese-inspired cloud in the rest of the composition, each 25cm x 24.8cm.
Provenance: Previously part of a Private Collection based in London and formed between the 1970s and 1980s.
