A Charles II provincial West Country silver spoon, Barnstaple circa 1670 by John Peard I (1641-1680)

Trefid pattern, prick dot engraved with initials M.L in simple script. Marked to the stem with makers mark I.P (Kent M. 105) twice and a lion rampant, once to the bowl to the with makers mark.

Length – 19.7 cm / 7.75 inches

Weight – 33 grams / 1.06 ozt

For a similar spoon by Peard with this mark and the same short wrought heel illustrated in Kent, T., (1992), West Country Silver Spoons and Their Makers, 1550-1750, J.H. Bourdon-Smith Limited, P.33, Fig 60.
