TWO WOODEN GILT AND POLYCHROME-PAINTED BLAZONS
Egypt, 20th century

Comprising two wooden wall panels of cusped shape, surmounted by crowns with crescent finials, in the centre of each a crescent moon paired with three stars, the motif reminiscent of blazons usually associated with the Sovereigns of Egypt, Fuad I [r. 1922-1936] and Farouk I [r. 1936-1952], possibly replicating a stylised version of the coat of arms of King Fuad I "The Order of Seraphim", painted in green, yellow, red, blue and gold, 87.5cm x 58cm and 81cm x 63cm.
