AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY FRENCH EMPIRE PERIOD GILT AND PATINATED BRONZE FIGURAL MANTEL CLOCK

the case finely modelled as a barn with thatched roof encasing the clock movement, on a plinth base surmounted by an ormolu figure of a milkmaid holding a bowl underneath a cow, with a cockerel and a milk pail beside her, the base with relief cast mounts of various domestic birds including a cockerel, geese, turkey, duck and pigeons, on four pointed feet, the replaced white enamelled dial with Roman numerals, the timepiece movement previously with silk suspension, now with balance wheel escapement,
