Opaque pigments heightened with gold on paper, the vertical composition portraying a standing Mughal prince, possibly Muhammad Khurram, future Emperor Shah Jahan, holding an encrusted golden sarpech (turban ornament) in his hand, standing on a white marble palatial terrace, in front of him a fountain and quadripartite garden, mounted, glazed and framed, the frame with an old inventory sticker of the Claude de Muzac Gallery, 36cm x 28cm including the frame.
Provenance: purchased at Claude de Muzac Gallery in Paris in 1978 and in a London private collection since.
