Lot 31 - MS- [c. 1817]. The Lady of the Lake. A Poem by...

MS- [c. 1817]. The Lady of the Lake. A Poem by Walter Scott. A manuscript copy of the narrative Arthurian poem by Walter Scott, originally published in 1810 (eighth edition). 4to.  (Occasional spotting, soiling and light browning). Later half brown calf, with marbled boards (spine lightly bumped). Provenance: “From Ellen Parkhurst to Miss Radie, 1817” (later printed label which claims that the original covers were inscribed and dated by Parkhurst to Radie).  With MS [Birthday Book]. –[c.1890’s] ‘Words from the Book of Life’. MS lettered in black, red and gilt, including a daily calendar with quotes/excerpts from the Old Testament. Provenance: Helen Pitcairn (signature). Green half calf (hinges broken, slight splitting to joints) (2).
