A MOROCCAN SILVER ROSEWATER SPRINKLER
Morocco, North Africa, late 19th - early 20th century

Of pyriform shape, resting on a flared circular foot, rising to a tapering tall neck with a gourd-shaped pierced top, the body finely engraved with reversed acanthus leaves and concentric lines, around the shoulders an inscription in Hebrew ("The Jews had Happiness and Joy") referring to a song typically sung at weddings and in happy occasions, the base stamped with a European import mark with the symbol of the fish and the initial PJ, 29cm high, weight 237g.
