The wooden cross inlaid with a mother-of-pearl tesserae mosaic engraved and painted in black and red pigments depicting Jesus on the cross, one of the crucial iconographic symbols of Christ's Passion, the details of the crown of thorns and the bleeding chest accurately rendered following the Christian scriptures, an image of the Heavenly Father below the cross and at its base a rectangular cartouche with the statement and date of blessing reading Benedetta nel Santissimo Sepolcro (Holy Sepulchre) e Posta nel Buco dove fu Piantata la Croce di Santissimo Signore Gesu Cristo 1840, 79cm high.
