Nepal, late 19th - 20th century

With a long, heavy, single-edged steel blade, slightly curved and broadened towards the centre, and a small recess with a metal peg towards the hilt, the spine decorated with beading and a Devanagari inscription reading Nepal, attached to a buffalo horn hilt, the matching wooden scabbard lined in red velvet and enhanced with copper alloy encrusted plaques featuring filigree and turquoise, coral, glass and jade beads, 45cm including the scabbard.
