A Victorian sterling silver teapot, London 1844 by William Robert Smily (reg. March 1842)
Of circular lobed ‘melonized’ form, raised on four shell and scroll bracket feet. The everted neck with a hinged domed lid for conforming shape surmounted by a cast detachable finial in the form of a flower with stem and leaves. The curved fluted spout opposite an ebonised C scroll handle with scroll junctions. Fully marked underneath, part-marked to lid and finial, lion passant only to retaining nut.
