PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT EUROPEAN PRIVATE COLLECTION
Khorasan, Eastern Iran, 12th - 13th century

Of circular shape with slightly inverted rim, three loop handles on the sides, the centre with a lobed dome-like boss terminating in a rounded knob, the exterior fully engraved and clad in silver and copper inlay, two calligraphic bands in Kufic and proto-animated Kufic script around the edges, the boss with drop-shaped medallions filled with rosettes, 8cm diam. and 4.5cm high.
