The rounded bowl carved to the exterior with ferocious four-clawed dragons soaring through swirling clouds in pursuit of flaming pearls, framed above and below by carved bands depicting birds amidst lotus and peony flowers covered in a thick brown glaze, the base unglazed

PROVENANCE:
Formerly in a private collection in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, since the 1950s, and thence by descent in the same family.
By repute, the majority of the collection was purchased from the Panshanger Estate Sale at the Corn Exchange in Hertford, 1953. As the family home of the Earls Cowper, the estate housed a large and important collection of art that included Chinese ceramics and works of art.
