A cased pair of Victorian sterling silver fish servers, London 1860 by Elizabeth and John Eaton

Rose pattern, (version one), double struck virginal. Comprising a fish slice and a fish serving fork, the slice with a shaped blade engraved and pierced with two trout amidst foliate scrolls and foliage, the fork similarly decorated. Housed in an original fitted velvet lined vase with tooled leather exterior. Each fully marked.

Fish slice length – 34.3 cm / 13.5 inches

Fork length – 24.5 cm / 9.7 inches

Case length – 38 cm / 14.9 inches

Weight – 374 grams / 12.02 ozt

This is the first version of Rose pattern, launched by William Eley and William Fearn in 1820 for the coronation of George IV, a similar version illustrated in Pickford’s also made in 1820 by messrs Lias.
