A mid-19th century Anglo – Indian colonial silver tankard, Madras circa 1840 by George Gordon & Company (active c. 1822-42)
Of panelled baluster form upon a circular foot. With a cast C scroll handle with acanthus leaf embellishments, leading to a hinged domed lid surmounted by a cast leaf and berry form final. Decorated throughout with flat chased decoration of C scrolls, foliage and flower heads, reserved with lattice work, a vacant cartouche to either side. Gilt interior. Marked underneath only with mark G.G & C.
