A CHINESE REVERSE GLASS PAINTING OF A LADY.

Qing Dynasty, 18th Century, prior to 1791.

Painted within an oval panel to depict a lady bejewelled and ornately clothed, intently gazing at a grasshopper held in her right hand above a dog seated on the table in front of her, also intently observing the insect, 22 x 18cm.

Provenance: acquired in 1791 (acheté a une vente – En 1791) [hand written note to the reverse].
