A late 19th / early 20th century Chinese export silver tea caddy, Canton circa 1900, marked Da Sheng, retailed by Kwon Man Shing of Hong Kong

Qing dynasty. Of cuboidal form with incurved sides, cylindrical pull off lid. The sides with chased alternating panels of flouring prunus against a ‘cracked ice’ background, with figural scene of a nobleman with a fan bearer receiving a visitor, against buildings. The top with flat chased prunus flowers and bamboo, the cap with a band of prunus. Marked underneath 褡盈 (DA SHENG), numeral 90, and retailer’s mark KMS.
