A large collection of autograph and typed letters signed by various stage figures, authors and playwrights, including: Henry Irving (autograph letter signed, thanking the recipient for his criticism of Irving’s most recent work, 24 October 1900), Lady Augusta Bruce, Harry Plunket Greene, David Murray (autograph letter declining an invitation, n.d.), Henry Arthur Jones (autograph letter thanking the recipient for a letter of introduction n.d.), Henri Germain, Shirley Brooks, Ernest Barker (letter accepting an invitation to lecture in Cambridge, 28 November 1933), Paul Gallico (typed letter sending an autograph the recipient can paste onto her copy of ‘Foolish Immortals’, 22 November 1953), Len Deighton (typed thank you note, 17 December 1962), Gavin Lyall (typed letter to a Miss Cond, reading in part “I’m just finishing the third one, to be called Midnight Plus One, which should be published in just under a year. Whether we’ll see any of these on the screen, as you so kindly hope, I just don’t know. Producers have been fiddling around with The Wrong Side for a couple of years now, trying to turn it into a script”, 7 May 1964), Roland Pertwee, Winifred Lamb, Helen MacInnes (two signed cards), John Mortimer, Anna Neagle (typed letter thanking Mrs Cond for sending “Good Wishes for the opening of Charlie Girl”, n.d.), Iris Murdoch, Malcolm Campbell and many others, v.s. late 19th century-1960s.
