An early 20th century Iraqi silver and niello cruet set, Omara or Basra circa 1930
Comprising a mustard pot, a salt and a pepper pot, on a cruet stand with central detachable carrying handle and cruet recesses. The stand of circular form upon three ball feet, the salt and mustard of oval form, the pepper of ovoid form, the salt with a removable blue glass liner. The mustard pot with a hinged lid, the pepper with a bayonet lid. Each with various nielloed scenes of camels, palm trees, fishermen in mashoof, two mudhif, the salt with the Abu Hanifa al in Nu'man, Baghdad, the obverse with a dhow sailing boat. Unsigned.
