A Louis XVI French silver late 18th century beaker, Paris 1781 by Jacques-Louis-Auguste Leguay (reg. 6th Sep 1779)

Of tapering cylindrical form with caulked rim, incised concentric lines. A decorative band of flat chased shells, scrolls and flower heads, against a matted background. Engraved with initials S.H.E.C. to side. Fully marked to base or rim with date letter S (reg. 1st Aug 1781 – 12th July 1782), charge and discharge mark of Henri Clavel (reg. 13th July 1780). 959 standard.
