A CARVED GREY SCHIST MAKARA SPOUT
Ancient region of Ghandara, 3rd - 4th century
Shaped as a reptilian aquatic mythical creature, possibly a makara, the body carved with fish scales and lateral fins, the wide mouth open and the bulging eyes protruding forward, with a rectangular graft on the back once likely attached to a source of running water, 14.5cm long.
