Opaque ground pigments on cotton cloths joint with a coat of chalk and gum made from tamarind seeds, comprising seven paintings from the Jagannath series with the renowned Odisha triad depicted in a temple niche worshipped by a variety of subjects including the local aspects of the Hindu deities Brahma and Shiva, in the foreground of the largest painting a group of priests lightening candles in prayer highlighting the devotional purpose of these illustrations, some paintings with European numerals in pen and pencil on the reverse, each painting of different size and shape, the largest 37cm x 38cm.
