PHOTOGRAPHIC ALBUM OF VIEWS OF CHINA, CANADA, AND NORTH AMERICA, 1901, documenting the aftermath of the Boxer Rebellion (1899-1901) in Beijing and Tianjin (41), together with some landscapes and views of Canada and North America (46), subjects include Chinese architecture, street views, military pictures, and landscapes, one group picture of native people (Black feet Indians), locations comprise the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, and other views of Beijing, Hai River (aka Pei Ho, Tianjin and Beijing), Vancouver, Fraser River, Sicamous, mount Abbott, the Rocky mountains, Calgary, Lake Superior, Buffalo, Niagara Falls, photographers include W.H.B & Co., N. Caple & Co (active 1858-1950), C.D. Arnold (active 1844-1927). Silver gelatin print, cardes postales (9) and copy prints (2), image size, approx. 280 x 210mm, 95 x 60mm, all mounted on oblong folio album, mount size, 375 x 285mm, all examples with handwritten description in ink in mount, titled and dated, some examples with descriptions in ink in mount margin, few with photographer’s name and title typed in the negative, introduction to the photographs of China in pen, front page by unknown hand.
