A LARGE CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE FIGURATIVE JAR.
Transitional period, circa 1640.
The robustly-potted globular body rising from a short spreading foot to a short waisted neck, painted around the exterior with four large medallions each enclosing figures in a landscape and linked with small rectangular landscape panels, all reserved on a scrolling lotus ground, 34.5cm H, 31cm diameter.
Provenance: from the collection of Walter Coote F.R.G.S. (1853-1889).
